Text.com Review 2026

Text.com is worth considering if your business gets enough website inquiries to justify live chat and you want those chats and email tickets in one inbox. I’d start with Essential for a small team handling most conversations itself. If you only get a few inquiries a week, I’d keep a contact form.

If customers ask about availability, delivery, or returns before buying, a chat can help them get an answer while they’re still on your site. I’d use Text.com’s 14-day trial to see which questions the AI can handle and how easily a person can take over when a customer needs help. I’d also count how many people need a seat and check what happens when the plan’s included AI resolutions run out.

What Does Text.com Do?

Text.com gives your team one place to answer website chats and follow up on email tickets. You can have a person answer in real time, let the AI Agent handle routine questions, and pass a conversation to someone on the team when it needs more attention. I’d start with a narrow job for the AI, such as answering questions about delivery or opening hours. I’d keep exceptions to the refund policy with a person.

This review covers the current Text platform. If you’re switching from a separate LiveChat, ChatBot, or HelpDesk subscription, check what carries over before comparing the old bill with a new Text plan. Some integrations still use the LiveChat name.

Text.com Pros and Cons

What I likeWhat I’d check
Live chat and email tickets share an inbox. A teammate can follow up when a question takes longer to resolve.Someone still has to own the queue. Decide who replies when a chat is handed off or nobody is online.
Essential includes live chat, ticketing, and an AI Agent. It gives a small team a way to try AI on a limited set of questions.Essential lists 10 AI resolutions per month and 60 days of conversation and file history. Check whether that covers how you work.
Growth adds reporting, supervision, and more AI capacity. Those features can help if several people answer customers. The upgrade is priced per user. Multiply the difference by everyone who needs access before deciding.

How Much Does Text.com Cost?

Essential costs $25 per user on monthly billing or $228 per user for a year. The advertised $19 monthly rate is the annual equivalent. Growth is $99 per user on monthly billing or $948 per user for a year.

Growth$99$948200

Public US prices checked . Annual totals are the advertised monthly equivalents multiplied by 12, before taxes and extras.

For three people, that’s $75 per month on Essential or $297 per month on Growth, before extras. I’d start by counting who actually needs access. Then I’d compare the cost of extra AI capacity with what Growth adds in reporting and conversation history.

What Happens When the AI Hits Its Limit?

Text lists $49.50 for 50 extra resolutions. Its pricing FAQ says Text automatically adds a pack when you hit the limit. Its detailed help article says packs are added manually and there is no automatic refill. Before paying, I’d ask Text to confirm in writing what happens on your account and whether the AI keeps taking chats when the allowance runs out.

A conversation can count as a resolution if the AI solves one customer question, even if the customer needs help with something else. When I check usage, I’d look at the conversations themselves to see what the AI handled and where a teammate still had work to do.

How I’d Test It on a Business Website

For Shopify, I’d check where the widget appears and whether the integration does what I need on my storefront. For WooCommerce, I’d test whether the AI sees the right product and cart information, then check how the widget behaves on a phone. A feature listed on an integration page still needs to work with your theme, settings, and checkout.

During the trial, I’d run four conversations before putting the widget in front of customers:

  1. A routine question. Ask about delivery and check that the AI uses your current policy.
  2. A request it should hand off. Ask for an exception to your returns policy and see what reaches your team.
  3. A question after hours. Check what the customer sees and whether a teammate can follow up the next day.
  4. A question on a phone. Open the widget on a product page and make sure customers can still reach the cart and checkout.

Test Shopify live chat with an AI chatbot.

Who Should Choose Text.com?

  • A small team that already answers website inquiries. I’d try Essential if people do most of the answering and you want one inbox for chat and email follow-up.
  • A store that gets repeat questions throughout the day. I’d test the AI on a few routine topics, then compare Growth if the extra AI allowance, reporting, or supervision would earn back the higher seat cost.
  • A business with only a few inquiries a week. I’d keep a contact form or try basic live chat first. I’d pay for Text once there’s enough work to make a shared queue worthwhile.

My Final Recommendation

I’d start with the 14-day trial, test it on the pages where customers ask questions, and see whether the team can keep up with handoffs. If Essential covers the work, I’d start monthly. I’d pay for Growth when I can point to a reason, such as needing longer conversation history, more AI capacity, or supervision across the team.
